The Solo Stove is a natural convection inverted downgas gasifer stove that incorporates a secondary combustion for a more efficient and cleaner burn. Most Underlined Buyer Review : Great Stove!!
When I saw an ad for this stove, I went to their site and decided to get one. Amazon had a better price, so I went with them. Yes, it is a lot bulkier and heavier than most stoves out there (I have a titanium alcohol stove), but you don't have to carry any fuel. Very sturdy construction means it should last for years.
This stove works great!! Pencil- to finger-sized sticks work best. Anything larger won't fit and takes longer to get going. Boiled a half-liter of water in 4 minutes using about 5-7 "pencils" worth of wood. Burns hot and efficiently. Only ashes left in the bottom; no unburned wood.
I would definitely recommend this stove.

Great Stove, Great Concept!
We ordered and received our two stoves today and are STOKED! We went with the Solostove and are glad we did! Well made product and a great design. Minimal welds and well made. We have been hiking and camping in the backcountry for over 30 years and finally tired of carrying extra stove fuel canisters, having fuel leaks in our packs and carrying all the extra junk with other stove types. We fired up the solostove for it's test run this evening and it worked great. (We're too cheap to buy a video camera, or you would be viewing it now...!
Great product and a wonderful buy. With both the wife and i having our own, we skipped the "get your own" phase of having a solostove. Great deal on a great product. Arrived in less than a week.

I am putting my review here with the 2-stove bulk pack option, because that is what got me interested in this wonderful little stove in the first place. I have a friend that I go backpacking (and fly fishing) with as often as we can get away, and food preparation is one of the luxuries that we like to take with us and play around and be creative with. We want to have our food be delicious and inspiring and yet we want our cooking gear to be light weight, trouble free and as invisible as possible.
Both of us have been looking for that "perfect" backpacking stove, and have been asking about and looking at everything that others are using. We wanted to do our homework BEFORE we took the plunge into a new purchase.
Because of a few troublesome challenges with my butane stove, I have been pretty interested in getting some miniaturized stove that uses the popular and inspired "rocket stove" concept, because I also wanted to have it available in a survival context...
